Yard Act – The Overload

Yard Act describe themselves as minimalist rock from Leeds. I’ll describe The Overload as a doomy disco piss-take ditty with a Yorkshire accent. Quite rightly railing at the gentrification of the music industry and the resulting “overload of discontent”, the second half of the song features a pastiche monologue of some not so well-meaning advice proffered by a local scene bod recommending they “get the dickhead singer out the band” and “don’t get political”. Thankfully it’s pretty much damn certain they ignored all those suggestions. This is the second single from these blokes, after the gem that is the Dark Days EP and the first taster from newly announced The Overload album, due for release 7th January 2022.

I like music. In my spare time sometimes I listen to it and then write about the music I've listened to.
